Small World11/23/2010 You never know where you're going to run into an actor, director, writer, and you never know when they're going to be wearing another hat. Got to an audition for an old classmate of mine today; had no idea that's who called me in. Busy Weeks08/16/2010 Goofing like zoo animals, more auditions involving 'devices', some VO action, performed a scene from 'The Crucible' in a class, and continued on mixing some recordings from earlier in the year. Oh, and another day of shooting True Mad North's performance videos. 'BIG' Auditions07/20/2010 When you get a BIG audition, it can be a BIG problem. I just like to think of it as an indication I'm in the right flow. Book it or not, I already made the cut by getting called in. Keep at it. Because that's how it works. It was for a national commercial, and it felt good. High Secrecy12/10/2009 Another national commercial audition, but I can't tell you who for. I signed a thing. They'll come after me. I gotta take it to the grave. Also, I'm writing this after the fact and can no longer remember who the client was. There's just a vague sense of some metallic object being passed in front of my face at the end of the audition...then...nothing. National Tease11/26/2009 Couple of national commercial auditions this week. Proposal: actors are notified when any job they audition for is cast. The agent and / or casting people already have all the actors' names, emails, etc. When they cast, they ought to call the cast actor and give the rest an automated courtesy form email so that they don't unnecessarily keep their schedule open (for the gig that already went to someone else). Do it. Ups & Downs10/23/2009 Called back for but did not book a national commercial. Yay! Argh! Rejection: I eat you for breakfast. You are kind of yucky, but I will consume and transmute you. Post-Audition Aftercare08/20/2009 ![]() Just reminding myself that there's no control over any of this. Prep, get seen, and afterward take extra good care, including moving on to the next one. Period. Awesome Audition06/05/2009 What do I like most about acting? The rejection. And what are auditions but an opportunity to, if not get cast, rack up some more no's? We all wind up carrying our share, and might as well let it feel good to get on with it. |
