Thanks to everyone who made it out to the Makeout Room to check out Tacos de Pescado and the rest of the program.  May the force be with you.

This is a cool venue.  Johnny Cash, Patsy Cline, Hank Williams (Sr. & Jr.), and Marty Robbins all played here back in the day.  There are still photos on the wall from that era.  I gather that the place has been through several management changes over the years, and that the current scene is a big improvement.  It's a big, beautiful room.

The boys and I played a few songs at their first open mic tonight.  Don't be offended you didn't get hipped to the lick up front.  I needed to do one by myself first.  It was all right.  We didn't sound too bad, and it was fun.  Boom, on to the next thing.  Ah, at last.  Well, I played drums in a one-off house-party band once, and sang for the old office holiday party band, but axe in hand, mic in face, singing stuff I wrote in front of a band?  A first.  Awesome.  It's never too late to start having fun.

An old favorite, at the Fillmore.  Got there a little early and scored some seats upstairs in the balcony, waiting to wade into the crowd until after the show got started.

Practiced the art of the early exit, avoiding the bottleneck crush of humanity in the halls and stairways.  Sweet.

On a bus ride, through the translucent tag to the grad week event crowd migrating across the hilltop cathedral's grounds.

Or is it a deleted scene from Gattaca or Battlestar Galactica?  You make the call.

Say that five times fast!  Moonlight picked up the Gold Kahuna Award for Excellence in Filmmaking at the 2009 Honolulu International Film Festival.

Screenings take place between March 6th and 9th in Hawaii.  Check it out if you're on Oahu.  I play "Dimitri," a not-so-balanced customer.

Moonlight Sonata, Celik Kayalar's indie feature in which I play one very dark scene (not for kids), has been accepted into the 11th Annual California Independent Film Festival in Livermore this coming April 16 - 19.

Tickets go on sale March 16.  Moonlight screens at 5pm on Saturday, April 18th at Vine Cinema in Livermore.  For more info on the festival, click here.

For a taste of my scene (not for kids), click the first link above, navigate to "gallery," and click on the second picture from the left on the bottom row.

A whole bunch of my old pals from the San Francisco School of Digital Filmmaking also appear.  Betrayal, violence, twists, revenge.  Ahhh...

Alejandro Adams is an amazing director.  Canary is a dystopian sci-fi feature dealing with organ theft.  I play an agressive TV producer.  Ensemble cast, improvised performances, great chemistry.

Canary screens Sunday, March 1 at 6:30 and on Saturday, March 7 at 4:00 at the San Jose Rep.  Get your tickets online, at the door or by calling 408.295.3378.

Canary has also now been added to IMDb - check it out.

Update:  both screenings were well-attended and great fun on a very big screen.  Thanks to those of you who made it out to support and enjoy!

You asked for it, people, and you got it.  More theatre!  I’ve been cast in a Studio 300 Theatre production of Fred Smith’s “A Bowl of Rose Leaves,” directed by Tonya Foster and Shari Carlson.

Family blowouts and reconciliations, evisceration of the art world, delerious hijinks, plenty of drinking, and a heartfelt return to true purposes and desires.  This will be the first professional production of this play, in an intimate space just off Union Square, starring Nick Scoggin with Gail Fenton, Taylor Meritt, myself, and Vlad Sayenko.

The show opens July 17 and runs through August 30.  That’s Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays in July, but only Fridays and Saturdays in August.  Tickets and location information are available at brownpapertickets.

If you care to use a garage, I’ve found the Sutter-Stockton to be economical and conveniently located in relation to the theatre.

It's a small venue of about 30 seats, so especially if you are scheming to bring a group (scheme away!), get your tickets early and often.  Hope to see you there!

Finally made it out to see my pals The Bar Feeders.  These guys have been around for at least 15 years, cranking out old school punk rock.  Great show included the unfortunate but amazingly swift removal of one over-excited fan.  Preceded by The Crosstops, more local greats, sharing the same drummer in one amazing Mr. Cecil B. Feeder (also an incredible filmmaker).

Man, what a bunch of people!  Lots of pirates, drunk people clinging to trees, crazy dancing naked dudes.  I slept in (see "Bar Feeders" above) but met up with the insanity of Bay to Breakers in the park.  All kinds, ages, anything goes.  San Francisco rocks.
